My power went out yesterday morning from the killer ice storm we had across South Carolina. And the power company says I will not have power until Tuesday. Today is Friday and I'm sleeping on the floor in my wife's office, while the rest of my family sleeps on coaches and cots through out the entire office. I'm typing this from the receptionist's desk. But we're all warm for the night and I guess we'll be here all weekend. I'm just happy to have internet access again. Man I was having some serious web withdrawl.

I got to test drive the newest gadget from Leapfrog.

The Fly Pentop Computer

It's a pen with a scanner in the tip that reads what you write.
There is a speaker built in that tells you what to do and reacts to what you've done.
You have to write on special "fly paper" for it to work.
The paper has small dots all over it, so the pen knows it's location on the page as you write.
Basically it's a computer without a monitor and You draw the icons and menus on the paper.

It's pretty amazing and I'm sure "tweenagers" are going to love it.
There are all sorts of game packs and learning packs you can purchase for it.
The technology behind this gadget will surely be expanded in all sorts of ways.
But for now, sneak a test drive from your nephew/niece on Christmas day.

97 Cent Comics at Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart has a little side cap of 4 different comic reprints. Fantastic Four, Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers and Incredible Hulk. Each one reprints the first 3 issues in Black and White. They are smaller than the originals, about the size of a TV Guide (6.5"x 4.75"). At that price I had to buy them all, but some how the Incredible Hulk didn't make it to the checkout with me. Grrrr! I wonder if these were even offered to Comic Stores. They would be great impulse buy items on the front counter.
The Small Press Expo was killer!! I got tons of killer books, met tons of killer people, I had a ton of killler fun driving back and forth with a van full of folks. All I can say is SPX is a killer show to find killer stuff.

Snag a copy of the fall preview issue of Greenville's The Beat with this illustration and a NEW (half page!) It's The Attic Bugs comic. First of a series that they will be running.

8.29.2005

Well, I'm trying to finish up some pages for the final chapter of my Students Of The Unusual story. This will make the 4th chapter of Recalcitrant Jones and The Dead Beats that I've done. Picking up after 2 pages done by Steve Mack. They are Written by Terry Cronin who is probably one of the most understandable and nicest guys ever in the whole world. And I'm not just saying that because I'm late with the pages, again. He should really hate me for my unbelievable slackness getting him his pages on time. But for some reason he doesn't.

Anyway. Here's a little peeky poo for you.

8.12.2005

My good buddy Andy Runton was just on Fan Boy Radio doing an hour long interview.
It's good even if he didn't mention my name and how cool I am.
Download it here

By the way, I'm typing this from my wife's new laptop with wireless internet. From my bed. It's the coolest ever!

Speaking of killer books. Good ole pally, Mr. Rob Ullman is working on a mini comic for Wide Awake Press. Would you like a little tasty poo? Sure you would. Just don't tell him I showed you.

8.09.2005

This weekend me and the Campbell Clan headed out to Columbia's Riverbank Zoo.
Foster had a great day, as did everyone else.

They have a neat bird area where you can buy nectar and feed the birds.

The birds just fly down and land on you and eat from the cup.

Of course there are always consequences.

They added a Merry-Go-Around since the last time we were there.

lamas have fingers for their upper lip.

Foster climbed the metal monkey.

8.01.2005

5.08.2005

Free Comic Book Day was super fun. Thanks to Planet Comics in Anderson and Borderlands in Greenville for having me stop in.

Planet comics gave everyone a free Superior with thier choices of FCBD titles. I think I signed around 60 of them before I had to scat back to Greenville.

They didn't use a stamp on the comics, so the little white square was perfect for sigs and shaky Apple Dumpler logo drawings.

Between bursts of people I was able to check out the 50 cent boxes of comics with some little guy that always seems to be around lately.

3 Generations of Campbells! Watch out!
